QBN Open Rd2 LIVE: Magical Millar Claims Second Crown

A magical back nine performance from Matt Millar has paved the way for the Canberran’s second Regional Open Crown in three starts here at Queanbeyan Golf Club.

Millar was almost flawless today, carding a bogey free 65 on a day when the threatening skies were almost as much an obstacle as his final round opponents.

The back nine was a battle, but it was Millar who remained steadfast. His precise play and sublime putting proving too much in the end, winning by three.

Overnight leaders Jordan Zunic and James Grierson were eventually joined by Brady Watt and last year’s champ, Deyen Lawson in a four way tie for second while Picton’s Justin Warren was alone in 6th place at three under par.

Andrew Evans, playing alongside Zunic and Millar, is going about his business with a minimum of fuss, getting to five under. The fourth player in the group, James Grierson, has dropped a shot to three under, and will need to make a move on the back nine.

Scott Arnold and Jay Mackenzie have made surprising moves, both are at there under and now in red figures.
