Three time tour winner Jordan Zunic and James Grierson of Bonnie Doon share the opening round lead late on the opening day of the Queanbeyan Regional Open here at Queanbeyan Golf Club.
Grierson was the player they were all chasing for much of the morning, getting to five under midway through his round and out to a handy two-shot lead.
The Sydneysider did have his challengers though, with defending champion Deyen Lawson creeping up the leaderboard, while evergreen Matt Millar, the freshly crowned Murray Open Champ clawed his way to the top of the leaderboard after an awful double bogey to start his day.
Zunic, the 2015 NZ Open Champion, got off to a solid start with an eagle on the third, however a dropped shot on the par four 7th scuppered his promising run. t was only for a few holes however, and with back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th,he was back on track. Another birdie on the 16th and a big par save on the 17th enough for the 30-year old to grab a deserved share of the clubhouse lead.
