Dubbo Open LIVE: Six for Dimi sets the standard

Dubbo Open LIVE: Six for Dimi sets the standard

Dimi Papadatos has carded the equal low round of the morning, a six under 66 to vault into a tie for 6th as the leaders begin their rounds.

The Central Coast based professional was impressive, carding an eagle and five birdies in a faultless display.

His six under total was also matched by James Grierson, whose six under effort helped him to finish at four under. He currently sits in 18th place.

The final round of the Dubbo Region Open is underway

8.20am: Final Round Underway

Players in the morning half of the field are on the course at Dubbo golf club in the final round of the Dubbo Region Open.

Play began at 7.00am under a crystal clear sky. Although a cool 18 degrees, the temperature is expected to get to a very warm 35 degrees in the mid afternoon. With the leaders to hit off at 12.40, if you are keen to follow the players, best to bring some sun protection and plenty of water.

And what an afternoon it’s shaping up to be. Overnight leader Jordan Widdicombe, who made a five hour trek west late on Friday simply grateful for a late call-up is in line for the biggest win of his career. His nine under par course record effort in the very last group of the day will be a memory he cherishes for a lifetime.

Playing alongside Widdicombe will be the talented duo of Aaron Wilkin and Simon Hawkes. Wilkin, a consistent performer on professional circuits throughout Australia, and Hawkes, already a winner on the ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia.

There are plenty other who will like their chances this afternoon. the Corowa Open third placegetter Charlie Dann will be looking for the win which eluded him last week, while the evergreen Matt Millar will be there about all day.

Surprise packet Corey Lamb, at five under par, is the highest placed amateur in the field. The Branxton young gun will be looking to outplay many of the more credentialed players in the field to snare his second NSW Open Start.

Importantly, if you cannot make it to Dubbo, follow the action here for occasional updates, or on twister @GolfNSW for updates throughout the day.
