NSW Open spot up for grabs at Griffith

Another spot in the 2018 NSW Open at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club is up for grabs next weekend.

Griffith Golf Club is hosting their NSW Open Regional Qualifier on September 8th and 9th.

Last year, Josh Gadd made the trek to the heart of the Riverina in pursuit of the coveted place, and came home with the prized invitation following an epic one shot win over local favourite Matt Staines.

Amateur players can take advantage of more than one opportunity to qualify, and can enter as many of the tournaments as they wish, however with the regional qualifying almost complete Griffith may be the ideal opportunity to snare that elusive spot.

Dubbo’s Lachie Jones was the first to qualify for this year’s NSW Open after taking out the Regional Qualifier at Moree Golf Club in May. A week later, Victorian Konrad Ciupek played his way into the Open after qualifying at Forbes Golf Club.

Globetrotting Justin Warren dominated the Camden Cup, firing a sizzling seven under 64 to win by five shots to secure his place; while Moore Park’s Hayden Gulliver, a regular competitor in the NSW Open Regional Qualifying series, booked his first pro tournament start when he took out the Thurgoona Bowl in late May.

Long Reef Golf Club’s Tom Bateman held on by a shot to take the coveted spot for the November’s Championship after qualifying at Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club over the June long weekend.

Think you’re up to it? Entries are still open for the 36-hole tournament.

The NSW Open is supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
