Crawford Claims Kel Nagle Cup

Adam Crawford (QLD) has held on to take out the 2011 NSW Open from Anthony Summers, Paul Donahoo and Jake Higginbottom.

Queenslander Adam Crawford is one happy man after playing near flawless golf to win the NSW Open by one shot.

Crawford set his day off cruising through his first nine holes at two under par. By taking advantage of the tough front nine, Crawford set himself up for victory with a final round 69. Crawford was surprised with his win given his prediction of the winning score being in the double figures at the start of the week.

“It’s great to win a State Championship. I’m surprised to be the winner at 6 under. It just goes to show how great a course this is.”

“I think us pros will be talking about this course for a while. I thought getting into a play-off would be great, but to win is just awesome.”

An emotional Crawford thanked his partner Bec and his caddy for their unwavering support in his fourteen years on tour.

After sharing the lead for most of the tournament Paul Donahoo closed out the round with a disappointing bogey on 18.

Donahoo finished tied for second at five under par with Anthony Summers, and Jake Higginbottom.

Jake finished his week taking home the honour of leading amateur as well as second place.

“I’ve had a really great week. The last two weeks have been awesome experiences. I just didn’t make putts this week.”

There’s no doubt we will see plenty more of the Charlestown boy in the future.
